It’s been a long time…
Hi everyone, my name is Scott and I am the owner of Bodybase. I created this website a few years ago when I was at university studying Web Technologies. Fitness is a huge passion of mine and I had good intentions for the direction of the website. I wanted to share what knowledge I had about training and nutrition in a hope that I could help people in achieving their fitness related goals. Unfortunately, university life got the better of me and as the work load and difficulty of the course took its toll, Bodybase took the hit and as you may have seen there has not been a post since 2014. I know, I’m disappointed in myself too.
This, however, is about to change. Bodybase has always been there in the back of my mind and the time away from it has allowed me to think about the purpose of the website, what I want it to provide and what I want it to achieve. During this time my knowledge and perspective on fitness has also changed for the better. Initially I wanted to write about purely building muscle and content that was aimed at a more hardcore bodybuilding scene. This has changed and I now want to provide information, tips, and articles to help people integrate fitness into their lives in a realistic and balanced way.
Bodybuilding aspects will still be covered (I am an active natural bodybuilding competitor – check out my instagram at the bottom of the page if you would like to find out more) but the main focus will be on implementing fitness to work around your current life.
So what does the future look like for Bodybase?
First let me share with you the Bodybase brand mission statement:
To help people discover, create and integrate health and fitness into their lives in a realistic and balanced way.
This statement will be the core to the content that is delivered on this website. I want to help people integrate health and fitness into their existing lives, not change their whole lives to accommodate it. I want people to discover the benefits to living a healthier lifestyle for themselves, the increase in energy, the satisfaction and feelings of accomplishment after a good workout. I want people to become a better, healthier version of themselves in a sustainable way. Most importantly, I want people to know that it is not one extreme or the other and that you can still enjoy a nice meal with the family or drinks with friends and have an all round balanced lifestyle.
I will also be looking at ‘recruiting’ new Bodybase members or guest writers who are experts in the industry to provide more content and their input on the website. This will allow new knowledge and perspectives to be shared and help create a mixed variety of content. If you happen to be interested in becoming a part of Bodybase please contact us.
This is a good question. Why do I want to do this?
One word. Misinformation. The world is quite simply misinformed. In addition to this, unrealistic expectations and deceit via media outlets has filled peoples minds with rubbish and in some cases ‘advice’ which can actually be quite harmful to the human body.
People think the only way to lose weight is via fad diets or no carbs but don’t really understand the process behind it. I mean of course you are going to lose weight eating 500 kcals per day, that’s just a simple case of calories in versus calories out. This however is not sustainable and will cause metabolic damage which in return will see you pile the weight back on and most likely even more than you started with.
Ultimately I want to provide people with healthy, sustainable and realistic health and fitness information.
Now. It all starts from now. Initially I will be aiming at publishing 2-3 articles per week on the website and staying active throughout the week on our social media platforms. If you are not yet following us on instagram get doing so to keep up to date with new posts! (@bodybase)
If you would like to know more about me myself or see what I’m getting up to, you can follow my instagram @scottcunningham_ – give me a message if you have any questions or would like to know more.
Until next time – Get Smart, Train Smart, Achieve Goals.
